BRISTOL, Tenn. – As a part of King’s initiative to bring fans closer to Tornado Athletics action, the Athletic Department is introducing its new text messaging service system. Fans and media can now enroll in the any variant of the program, free of charge, to receive the text coverage they desire for the sports they wish.
The service is simple to enroll in and will give fans and media members alike the ability to get up-to-the-minute updates from their favorite sport or sports, score and news updates, and instant access to exclusives within the walls of the King Athletic Department from your cellular phone.
“With many people being on the go and using their phones to access information, we felt this was just one more way for those interested in King Athletics to fill their needs quickly and easily,” said Sports Information Director Ryan Gasser. “It is flexible enough to manage what you want to receive or be completely in the loop with everything ongoing at King.”
The service is being offered free of charge and can be changed or deleted at any time. Carrier text message rates from may apply.
To begin the sign-up process visit the online home of Tornado Athletics, www.KingTornado.com, and click on the “Get Text Updates” icon to the right of the page. You may also click here for instant access to the sign-in page.
Signing up is quick and easy. Simply insert a valid e-mail address in the designated area at the top of the page for access to manage your account. Then type your mobile phone number and select your carrier from the dropdown menu. Then select which type of coverage you would like to receive. You may select sport-by-sport, scores-only, or full comprehensive coverage by checking “All Sports/News”. Complete the process by clicking “Subscribe” and your service will be activated immediately.
Note: The All Sports - All Updates option provides users all scores, news, and story updates for all of King’s 24 athletic programs. The *Scores Only* option will provide final scores or results for all contests, only.
The texting service will begin sending updates on Monday, Aug. 20.
Per NCAA rules, members of the coaching or administrative staffs are not permitted to use text messaging to communicate with any prospective student-athletes. If you are a prospective student-athlete wishing to obtain information from or gain contact with a member of the coaching or administrative staffs, you may not sign up for text messages. All accounts that choose to receive text messages are subject to age verification per compliance with specific NCAA by-laws.
