Conference Carolinas Welcomes Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University to NCAA Division II

High Point, N.C. – Conference Carolinas is pleased to announce that Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan have been approved for NCAA Division II membership.

Each school will enter the NCAA Division II membership process. Provided that each athletic department successfully completes each phase of the membership process, the process should take three years to complete.

Both institutions will spend two years in candidacy status (2013-14 and 2014-15). After fulfilling candidacy status, the institutions will begin the provisional period (2015-16) in the membership process. Upon completing the provisional phase, institutions are granted full membership status. The earliest both institutions can become full NCAA Division II members is 2016-17.

“We welcome both Emmanuel College and Southern Wesleyan University to Conference Carolinas scheduling and eventually membership. We are confident that they will add to the conference as well as the conference will add to their institutional profile,” stated Dr. Alan Patterson, Conference Carolinas Commissioner.
