SAAC hosts fundraiser for Special Olympics
BRISTOL, Tenn. – On Saturday night at the basketball doubleheader, the King University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be holding a fundraiser and collecting donations for Special Olympics. All donations made will go directly to the Washington County Va. Special Olympics to help create more opportunities for the athletes to experience the benefits of year-round participation.
SAAC will be taking donations at the concession stand, and they will also be having a half-court shot contest at halftime of the men’s game. The entry fee to enter the halftime contest will be $1 with all proceeds going to the Special Olympics. Fans have the opportunity to win an Amazon.com gift card if they make the halftime shot.
"Washington County Va. Special Olympics athletes benefit from regular physical activity, social interaction and life skills training,” said Mary Parks of the Washington County Va. Special Olympics. “Your support will help Washington County create more opportunities for our Special Olympic athletes to experience the benefits of year-round participation — all at no cost to themselves or their families. Donations made out to 'Washington County Local Special Olympics’, will allow us to send not only our athletes but their parents as well to Summer Games in Richmond. Donations will also help with local Special Olympic events, sports equipment, transportation, etc.”
