The 2011-12 season will mark a year of firsts for the King University Softball program. The Tornado begin their first full year of competition as a member of Conference Carolinas and second as a full-time member of NCAA Division II. This year will also mark the first full season of play at the brand new King University Softball Complex.
Conveniently located on campus and nestled in the foothills of the smoky mountains, the King University Softball Complex serves as the home site for all Tornado home softball games. The complex features bullpens for home and visiting teams, full-size dugouts and a cage area equipped with a turf hitting surface. Surrounded by an eight-foot outfield fence the field has dimensions of 200 feet down the lines and 225 feet to centerfield. The complex also features a brand new, state of the art scoreboard.
Off the field, King Softball players enjoy a locker room complete with their own personal lockers and a lounge area featuring couches and a flat screen television.
The King University softball complex hosted its first regular-season game on March 2, 2011 against local rival Tusculum College. The program’s first win at the complex for the Tornado was an 8-6 victory over Mars Hill on March 12, 2011.
