Tornado take top 10 at Smith Mountain Lake

ROANOKE, Va. – The King University bass fishing team had three teams compete in a Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) even at Smith Mountain Lake over the weekend and one Tornado team finished in the top 10. Out of 55 teams, Landon Lawson and Donavan Carson finished ninth to lead the Tornado contingent.

The duo of Lawson and Carson caught five fish, posting a weight of 13 pounds, seven ounces to take ninth. The tandem of Nicholas Gilbert and Hunter McClaskey came in 33rd, reeling in four fish for a weight of eight pounds seven ounces. The final Tornado team of Jacob Lovell and Dillon Bryant finished 41st with a weight of five pounds eight ounces on four fish.

With their finish, Lawson and Carson qualified for the 2021 FLW National Championships. Earlier this year, the duo qualified for the Bassmaster National Championships.

The winning team of Schaeffer Dobbratz and Josh Cannon of UNC Charlotte posted a weight of 16 pounds seven ounces with five fish.
