Spencer Frantom, Sr., Men's Cross Country
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee convened last week and announced the September Student-Athletes of the Month. Summer Kremer of women's volleyball and Spencer Frantom of men's cross country were named to the monthly honor after incredibly successful performances in their respective sports.
Kremer has had a stellar first month of the volleyball season as she leads Conference Carolinas with 225 total kills, and ranks second in the league with an average of 3.41 kills per set. She also ranks third among Tornado with a blistering attack percentage of .288. In consective weeks in September, the junior outside hitter won both the Tennessee Sportswriters Association, and the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week Awards.
Frantom started his senior season by winning the first meet of the year, the Eye Opener Invitational. He posted an 8k time of 26:30.14 to take the title. He followed that up with a time of 25:39.20 at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, and posted a 14th place finish at the Mountaineer Open with a time of 25:47.96.
