The King University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has named their student-athletes of the month for the month of September. Both Summer Kremer and Leennawat Numpituckchaikul have gotten off to great starts to their 2014-15 season’s, earning the first SAAC Student-Athlete of the Month honors.
In the month of September, Kremer was nothing short of impressive, leading the King women’s volleyball team to a 9-6 record, including a mark of 3-1 in Conference Carolinas play. The senior posted a team-high seven double-doubles in the month, and has led all of NCAA Division II in kills for the entire season. Kremer has recorded double figures in kills in every match except for one, and has eclipsed the 20-kill mark six times this season, including a season-high 24 terminations against Flagler College. She also accounted for a career-high 31 digs in the match against Flagler. The Mills River, North Carolina native has also registered at least 20 digs in a match four times. Her 296 kills and kills per set average of 4.77 both lead Conference Carolinas while her attack percentage of .267 ranks seventh in the league.
Numpituckchaikul got off to a somewhat slow start in the King men’s golf team’s opening tournament, shooting 77 in the Kiawah Island Invitational. However, he turned it around at the end of the month at the King University Invitational, coming in with a top five finish after posting a tournament score of even-par 140. The junior shot 72 in the first round at the Country Club of Bristol, but followed it with a two-under 68 in the final round to move up the leaderboard.
Kremer and the women’s volleyball team will be in action again on Friday at Belmont Abbey College and Saturday at Pfeiffer University. The men’s golf team closes out their fall season on October 27-28 at the Rock Barn Collegiate Invitational in Conover, North Carolina.
