Tornado ends SECCC Cyclocross in second

BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College finished second in the 2010 Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference Cyclocross Division II standings after the season concluded over the weekend with two riders in the Top-10 in the division.

The Tornado totaled 85 points to beat Cumberland (Tenn.) University by a point. King was third overall among both divisions. Mars Hill (N.C.) College won Division II and overall conference with 280 points.

Lees-McRae (N.C.) College was tops in Division I with 220 points. Clemson (S.C.) University was second in Division I thanks to 80 points.

The rest of Division II had East Tennessee State fourth, 12 points behind King. Milligan (Tenn.) College finished fifth with Warren Wilson (N.C.) College sixth.

Individual King placed Casey Stallard (Bristol, Va.) ninth in Division II and 22nd overall among all riders. Brent Baker (Kingsport, Tenn.) was next in 23rd overall and 10th in the division. Reid Yoder (Hoagland, Ind.) added a SECCC Division II 13th-place finish.

The SECCC Cyclocross Championship was contested this past weekend which wrapped up the cyclocross season and King's road racing season will occur in the spring. The conference schedule had not been finalized and will be announced in January.
