MARS HILL, N.C. – Kaysee Armstrong and Drew Bailey culminated their stellar Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (SECCC) cyclocross season with a pair of solid performances for King University cycling on Saturday. Bailey turned in a fourth place finish, and Armstrong placed sixth at the SECCC Cyclocross Championships.
The course at Mars Hill wasn't in the best of shape as it rained most of Friday, turning the already technical course muddy, but the duo turned in very solid performances considering the circumstances. Both Bailey and Armstrong faced deep fields, but prevailed, as they have all season, to turn in a pair of top-10 finishes. Bailey came across the finish line fourth and Armstrong took a sixth place finish.
The duo of Bailey and Armstrong also raced as a team, and finished third in the relay race.
Based on their results on Saturday and all season, both Bailey and Armstrong qualified for the cyclocross national race in Boulder, Colo., next month. The duo will be joined by Megan Rogers and Blake Adams who also had stellar years leading to their qualification for the national race.
