King gets three NCCAA All-Mid-East selections

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - King College placed three players on the 2010-11 NCCAA Division I All-Mid-East Region Men's Basketball Team with Mark Dockery earning first-team honors and teammate Jason Seymore on the second team. Fellow Tornado Clarence Smith was an honorable mention on the squad.

Dockery, a senior from Nickelsville, Va., led King and ranked second in the region with a 19.8 scoring average. He was ninth in the region's field goal percentage with a 46.4 success rate, but his 83.7 free throw percentage was good for the No. 2 spot. The long-range shooter used a 43.4 three-point percentage to land in the region's fifth spot for the category. In addition he was tenth in the region for steals per game with 1.4.

Seymore, a junior from Powell, Tenn., led the Mid-East with a 65.9 field-goal percentage which helped him to a 14.7 scoring average, the seventh best in the league. He was able to shoot to the top of the three-point field goal percentage category with a 51.9 mark and was eighth in free throw percentage at 75.7. Seymore's 7.8 rebounds per game led the team and put him sixth in the region.

On the first team with Dockery was the NCCAA Mid-East Player of the Year, Jared Maners, from Oakland City (Ind.) University, Campbellsville (Ky.) University's JaVaugh Espritt, Victory (Tenn.) University's Myron Strong and Mid-Continent (Ky.) University's Chris Ferguson.

The second team was made up of Seymore, Caleb Harris and Shawn Savage, both from Campbellsville, Victory's Josh Guillory and Tim Bryant from Mid-Continent.

Smith (Nashville, Tenn.) was an honorable mention along with the Victory duo of Horace Dixon and Michael Davis. Smith was fourth in the region's field goal percentage category with a 55.0 mark. He blocked 0.9 shots per game which was fifth among region players and his 5.7 rebounds per game was tenth.

King won the NCCAA Division I Mid-East Championship Saturday thanks to a 70-59 victory at No. 5 Campbellsville to punch a ticket to the NCCAA National Tournament. The Tornado enters the event as the No. 3 seed and will play Trinity Christian (Ill.) Thursday at 4 p.m.
