GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College was No. 5 in the first NCCAA Men's Basketball Division I Burbridge Rating, the organization announced.
The Tornado had a rating of 7.222. At the time of the report King had a 4-5 record, however the team lost to the University of Indianapolis Monday 92-82 and then beat Montreat (N.C.) College 80-66 Wednesday.
Dallas Baptist (Texas) University was No. 1 with an 8.500 Burbridge. Oklahoma Wesleyan University followed in second. Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University and Indiana Wesleyan University were third and fourth, respectively.
King was the highest ranked team from the Mid-East region with Bluefield (Va.) College next at No. 16. Victory (Tenn.) University landed at No. 18. Defending region champion Mid-Continent (Ky.) University was No. 21.
The rating is based on wins and losses, opponents' winning percentage, location of game and opponents' national affiliation.
On Nov. 17 King was selected No. 1 in the NCCAA according to the region's chairs.
King, now at 5-6 on the season, wraps up the season's longest home stand on Saturday with an 8 p.m. contest with Emory & Henry (Va.) College.
