Tornado Continue to Receive Votes in Latest NABC Poll

King Men's Basketball is currently receiving votes in the latest NABC/Division II Coaches' Poll, released Jan. 15.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The NABC/Division II Coaches' Poll released its newest national rankings on Tuesday, Jan. 15. King Men's Basketball continued to receive votes in the latest poll and has multiple individuals earning national recognition for their offensive output.

King, currently 11-2 overall and 6-1 in Conference Carolinas play, received nine votes in the most recent NABC/Division II Coaches Poll, released Tuesday. The Tornado were previously ranked No. 22 in the country but fell out of the top-25 following a loss on the road to the Erskine Flying Fleet, 77-61.

The Tornado have now received votes or been ranked in the top-25 three times this season.

Per the NCAA statistics rankings released on Jan. 13, the Tornado are inside the top-5 for three-point field goals per game. King ranks fifth in the country with 10.5 per game with only 0.1 separating them from third-ranked Alabama-Huntsville.

King finds its name among multiple individual national rankings, as well. Logan Lyle (Unicoi, Tenn.) is tied for third in NCAA Division II in three-point field goals per game, averaging 3.85 per contest this season. He is also 14th in the nation in three-point field goal shooting percentage, knocking down an even 45 percent of his attempts.

Jason Seymore (Powell, Tenn.) has six double-doubles on the season, placing him in a tie for 19th in the country in that category.

Last week, King was ranked No. 22 in the country after a three-game winning streak propelled them toward their highest NCAA national ranking in school history. Last week's loss to Erskine dropped King from the top-25 but a win at home versus Pfeiffer (67-51) helped the team continue to receive votes. Currently, King joins No. 19 Barton as the only other Conference Carolinas school to receive national recognition in the latest poll.
