Men's Basketball Ranked 5th in NCAA Southeast Region
After dropping a road game at Limestone and winning a nail-biter against Coker at home last week, the King men's basketball team dropped from #3 to #5 in this week's NCAA Southeast Region rankings.
Lincoln Memorial, winners over the Tornado on December 16th, and USC-Aiken, whom the Tornado defeated on December 30th, flip flopped the top two spots in the poll this week, while Barton, whom the Tornado have beaten twice this year, moved up from #4 to #3. Limestone rode the momentum of wins over King, Mt. Olive and Erskine last week to jump all the way from #9 to #4.
King, who owns a 4-2 record against the top 4 teams in this week's rankings, will look to avenge one of their seven losses this year, when they host North Greenville Friday night at 7:30pm in the Student Center Complex. The Crusaders handed the Tornado a 63-55 loss on January 30 in Tigerville, SC.
The Tornado will then begin the quest for the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship on Monday at 7:00pm, when they will host a yet to be determined opponent in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
