King Basketball Season Comes To An End...
The 2012 - 2013 King University basketball season ended Sunday night as teams were announced for the NCAA Division II basketball tournament. King went 5 - 3 vs teams that got into the NCAA tournament this season. Out of the 8 teams from King's region that made it; King beat #1 USC-Aiken once, beat #3 Barton College twice, split with #5 Limestone, & split with #8 Belmont-Abby.
The Tornado finished the season 19 - 8 overall and third place in Conference Carolinas. King finished the regular season only 1 game out of first place. Logan Lyle, Eddie Piccinini, and Jason Seymore were all selected to this year's All-Conference teams. King was led this season by Senior Co-Captains Eddie Piccinini and Jason Seymore.
During Eddie's playing time at King he played on the, 08-09 AAC conference tournament championship team, which also made the NAIA national tournament, the 10-11 NCCAA national tournament 3rd place team, and last years Conference Carolinas regular season championship team that competed in the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament, while compiling an overall record including this season of 84-38. Eddie scored over 1,235 points, made 160 3point shots, grabbed 268 rebounds, and dished out 285 assists. In addition to his on court performance Eddie was also name the 2011-12 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Academic athlete of the year, and was named to this years Conference Carolinas all-academic team.
During Jason's playing time at King he played on the 08-09 AAC conference tournament championship team, which also made the NAIA national tournament, the 09-10 NCCAA National Tournament runner up team, and the 10-11 NCCAA national tournament 3rd place team, while compiling an overall record including this season of 85-37. His time at King has been a very productive one, thru the Coker game on Saturday Jason has scored 1,168 points, made 91 3point shots, grabbed 768 rebounds, and dished out 179 assists.
At the present time, the King coaching staff is working on scheduling for the 2013-2014 season. The players will be back in the weight room and back on the court working starting in April. Thanks to all the fans, students, and staff that have supported the Tornado this season!
