Mate Lengyel

Mate Lengyel joined the King University men's soccer coaching staff as a full-time assistant coach in the fall of 2025 following a successful playing and coaching career in both Hungary and the United States.

A native of Hungary, Lengyel began his playing career with Videoton FC, where he spent 14 years developing through the club's system and helped lead the program to a U17 National Championship. He later competed for Fovárosi Vízmuvek for two seasons before continuing his athletic and academic career in the United States.

Lengyel arrived at King University in 2021 and immediately made an impact for the Tornado. In his first season, he led the team in goals and earned Player of the Year honors while establishing himself as one of the program's top offensive threats.

Following the 2021 season, Lengyel transferred to Milligan University, where he was a member of one of the most successful stretches in program history. During his time with the Buffaloes, he helped the team capture two Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships and an AAC Tournament Championship while advancing to the national championship match as National Runner-Up.

After graduating from Milligan University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Management, Lengyel returned to King University as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the men's soccer program. In that role, he assisted with player development, training sessions, recruiting efforts, and the day-to-day operations of the program while pursuing a Master of Business Administration.

Lengyel completed his MBA in 2025 and was elevated to a full-time assistant coaching position with the Tornado. His experience as a collegiate student-athlete, graduate assistant, and coach provides valuable insight into player development and program growth.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Lengyel holds a U.S. Soccer Federation D License, further demonstrating his commitment to coaching education and athlete development.

Lengyel earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Management from Milligan University in 2024 and completed his Master of Business Administration from King University in 2025.
