Powell leads Tornado in first two rounds of Bearcat Golf Classic

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Following their second win of the season, the King University men's golf team shot 620 in the first two rounds of the Bearcat Golf Classic hosted by Lander University. The Tornado are 13th of 18 teams, and were led by Richard Powell who shot 150 in the first two rounds.

Powell started the day win a one-over 73 in the first round, and followed with a 77 in the second round, for a total of 150. Powell is currently tied for 16th in a field of nearly 100 golfers. Ross Maietta ended his day with a stroke total of 157. He improved on his first round 82 with a 75 in the second round.

Leennawat Numpituckchaikul carded rounds of 80-78 for a total of 158. Taylor Gouge and John Scott weren't far behind as Gouge posted scores of 78-81 and Scott registered 81-78, for totals of 159.

King shot 312-308 in the first two rounds for a total of 620 while Belmont Abbey College leads the tournament after shooting 293-289 for a total of 582. Belmont Abbey's Adam Hedges carded scores of 69-66 to lead the tournament with a total of 135.

The third and final round will be played tomorrow.
