BRISTOL, Tenn. – Announced at the Sports Festival Championship Banquet and Brunch on Saturday morning, two King University golfers earned All-Conference Carolinas honors. On the women's side, Elizabeth Swallow was named first team all-conference while Richard Powell earned second team honors on the men's side.
In her freshman season, Swallow placed in the top-10 in all but two tournaments all year. The Berkshire, England native's best finishes of the season, second place, came in back-to-back tournaments in March. She carded a season-best 145 at the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational to finish second and followed that with a 150 at the Pinehurst Challenge, finishing in second place by one stroke. In the fall, she started her career with a pair of 10th place finishes, and followed it with back-to-back fourth places finishes. This is the first time Swallow has earned All-Conference Carolinas honors.
On the men's side, Powell posted five top-5 finishes to earned second team All-Conference Carolinas for the first time in his career. The senior from Hixson, Tenn., started the fall with a third place finish after shooting an one-under, 143 at the Smokey Mountain Invitational. He followed that with his best tournament score of the season, six-under 139 at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate where he finished in fifth place. His best finish of the season came at the LMU State Farm Invitational where he shot two-under 142 to place second.
