HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – In the third round of the NCAA South/Southeast Regional, King University's Richard Powell carded a 79. With a three-round total of 235, Powell did not qualify to advance to the NCAA Championship.
The senior started out strong on the back nine, registering one birdie and two bogeys for a one-over 38. However, the front nine was as kind as Powell carded a 41 for a final round total of 79. The Hixson, Tenn., native posted scores of 78 in each of the first two rounds to finish with a total of 235 in 87th place.
Powell was the first men's golfer at King University to qualify and participate in an NCAA Regional. The top two individuals that were not on a qualifying team advanced to the NCAA Championship.
