Tornado in sixth after first round of Cliffs Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – In their final tournament before the Conference Carolinas Championships, the King University men's golf team shot 306 in the first round of the North Greenville Cliffs Intercollegiate. The Tornado are in sixth place after the first round, and were led by Mathias Bunaes who is in 12th place.

Bunaes shots a 38 on the front nine, and followed with a 36 on the back to finish with a first round score of 74, only four shots off the lead. Ross Maietta and Taylor Gouge followed Bunaes, both shooting 77's. Maietta followed his front nine score of 38 with a back nine score of 39. Gouge carded a 42 on the front nine, and improved it with a 35 on the back nine.

Leennawat Numpituckchaikul wasn't far behind after shooting 36-42 for a total of 78. John Scott rounded out the team score with an 80 while Sam Hobday shot a 79 playing as an individual.

The Tornado are in sixth place after shooting 306 in the first round. The tournament hosts, North Greenville University leads the tournament after carding 292 in the opening round while Queens University is in second at 293.

The second round and final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
