BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College saw a second-half goal become the difference as No. 25 Mars Hill (N.C.) College left Bristol with a 1-0 decision in men's soccer play.
King, at 3-9-1 with the result, kept battling after the 60th minute goal by Isaiah Schafer. Schafer scored off a corner kick delivered by Felipe Farraro.
Mars Hill, also ranked No. 4 in the Southeast Region, went to 11-1-1 after the match.
Richard Masters (Kent, England) recorded five saves for King while his counterpart Zac Scott had six saves. King got off a dozen shots with 11 by Mars Hill. Each squad had six players attempt shots. Both teams had six corner kicks as well in the even fought battle.
King returns to action Tuesday when Milligan (Tenn.) College takes the short trip to Bristol to play a 4:30 p.m. contest.
