King suffers 2-1 overtime setback at Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - An overtime goal dealt King College a 2-1 loss Monday at Carson-Newman (Tenn.) College as the Tornado played in a fourth consecutive one-goal contest.

In the 98th minute Carson-Newman's Daniel Zitt took the cross from Ben Backstrom and finished in the upper right corner of the net to put the home team in front 2-1.

Zach Caracciolo (Clarksville, Tenn.) put a rebound into the net after his shot at the 18:39 mark which gave King the early 1-0 lead.

Later in the first half Carson-Newman, with a 2-1-1 record, tied things up when Emmanuel Aboagye chipped the ball over King's Patrick Milfeld (Dallas, Texas). Aboagye's score was in the 39th minute and Robert Hill provided an assist. Milfeld went onto record seven saves.

King, now at 0-4-1, opens the home portion of the schedule Wednesday with a 5:30 contest against Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) University. In the first five contests of 2010 King has scored three goals while opponents have seven.

The Tornado had four shots on goal and Carson-Newman's Michael Alley stopped three shots.
