Tornado Turned Down by Saints, 4-0

King College battled to a scoreless first half with the Limestone Saints before the hosts delivered four unanswered goals to take away a 4-0 decision over the Tornado.

GAFFNEY, S.C. – King College battled to a scoreless first half with the Limestone Saints before the hosts delivered four unanswered goals to take away a 4-0 decision over the Tornado.

Though their offense mustered only one shot during the first 45 minutes, the Tornado defense fended off 10 shot attempts by the Saints. Joshua Feener (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) made three of his four total saves in the opening half.

Limestone opened up with three goals in nine minutes of play coming out of halftime. At the turn of the 57th minute, Jack Bailey scored his first of two goals off a corner kick where he booted in a rebound stemming from the play.

The Saints' Sam Orritt doubled the score, 2-0, when he put a shot toward the King goal that was blocked down in front of the net. Orritt then put back his own rebound. Four minutes later, Bailey scored his sixth goal of the season and second of the match on a header off a short cross pass from Thomas Metzemaekers to put the Saints up 3-0. Jorge MacKenna added Limestone's fourth goal in the 77th minute.

King will continue its stint on the road against Queens University of Charlotte on Oct. 10 with a 5 p.m. kickoff. They will conclude the road trip on Oct. 13 at Pfeiffer University before coming home to play Erskine on Oct. 17.
