BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University's Ryan Murphy earned Men's Soccer Player of the Week accolades from the Tennessee Sportswriters Association on Tuesday, posting a goal and an assist in a pair of Tornado matches.
The Stirling, Scotland, native tallied his second assist of the season 14 seconds before halftime against Union College, placing a pass from the end line to Chris Hicks just in front of the net for a 1-0 Tornado lead. With King trailing 2-1 in the final minutes, Murphy's shot into the right side of the net squared the match in the 86th minute for his first-ever collegiate goal.
King is in action tonight as they travel to North Greenville University. Kickoff from Tigerville, S.C., is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Tornado stay on the road to face Barton College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
