BRISTOL, Tenn. – The season may have ended on Tuesday, but two King University men's soccer players were honored by Conference Carolinas on Thursday. Ryan Murphy and Zachary Clark both earned second team all-conference honors for their performances this season.
Murphy hails from Stirling, Scotland and turned in a stellar rookie campaign in Scarlet and Navy to earn second team all-conference honors. The freshman tied for the team lead with two assists while netting a pair of goals. He accounted for his first career assist in a 3-3 tie with Shorter University in the season opening tournament. Later in the year he netted his first career goal, and added an assist in a 2-2 draw with Union College. His second goal came in a 2-1 win over Trevecca Nazarene University in the final week of the regular season.
Clark, a junior from Huntsville, Ala., has been a mainstay in the middle of the Tornado defense all season long en route to second team all-conference honors. He appeared in all 17 games for the Tornado, making starts in 16 of them while leading the team in minutes.
"I am delighted for both of them," head coach John Miglarese commented. "Zach and Ryan have been our two most consistent and steady performers all season. I am happy the other coaches in the conference recognized their value to our program. It is a well-deserved award. I expect even better performances next season."
