WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – A school record fell for the King College men's swimming program Saturday at a tri-meet hosted by the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
The Tornado's Blake Rutherford (Picayune, Miss.) swam the 200-yard butterfly in two minutes and 14.12 seconds. Rutherford lowered his program record that was set two weeks ago.
In the combined team scoring, King beat Milligan (Tenn.) College head to head 106 to 82. Cumberlands beat King 136-52 and Milligan 146-42. The Lady Tornado swam past Milligan 63-31, but lost to Cumberlands 66-29. On the men's side, King narrowly lost to Milligan 51-43 along with a 70-23 score in favor of the Cumberlands.
King will swim at Warren Wilson (N.C.) College on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. which will be the final meet until January for the Tornado and Lady Tornado.
