King takes two individual wins at season opening meet

GAINSVILLE, Ga. – The King University men's swimming team opened their 2013-14 season at Brenau University where they faced Thomas College and Milligan College. The Tornado fell to Thoms 60-29, and to Milligan 56-39.

Christian Knobloch turned in a solid performance in the season opener, winning the 200 meter freestyle and finishing third in the 100 meter freestyle. The senior posted a winning time of 1:54.73 in the 200 meter free, and third place time of 51.02 seconds in the 100 meter free.

Nicholas Piumelli also had a good opening meet as he won the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:04.18. Senior Alek Nochowicz opened the season with a second place finish in the 1,000 meter freestyle with a time of 11:43.12.

Reynold Thibideau also turned in a top-3 performance, finishing third in the 200 meter individual medley. The sophomore posted a time of 2:09.89 in the season opening meet.

King will be in action again on October 18 when they travel to Gaffney, S.C., to participate in the Conference Carolinas Invitational.
