Tornado top Warren Wilson 114-65

BRISTOL, Va. – The King University men's swimming & diving team honored their seniors at their final home meet of the season on Friday night. The Taylor Horton and Alek Nochowicz were honored as King defeated Warren Wilson College 114-65.

Horton and Nochowicz both competed in three events as Horton won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.69 seconds and Nochowicz won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:29.43. Nochowicz finished third in the 100 yard backstroke, and helped his 200 yard freestyle relay team of Christian Knobloch, Tyler McBee and Michael Leach post a time of 1:41.30. Horton was a member of the winning 200 yard medley relay team Reynold Thibideau, Nicholas Piumelli and Bryan Stroinski that posted a time of 1:46.26. His 200 yard freestyle relay team of Quenton Lyons, Donny Vogelsong and Jacob Morales finished in 1:38.55.

McBee turned in a solid night as he set a personal best in the 500 yard freestyle as he posted a time of 5:39.37 to top his previous best by more than four seconds. Leach nearly set a personal best in the same event as his time of 5:30.63 placed him first, coming within four tenths of a second of his personal record. Stroinski nearly set a personal record in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 24.25, just over a half of a second off his fastest time.

Lyons and McBee finished 1-2 in the 200 yard freestyle with times of 2:01.11 and 2:06.43, respectively. Thibideau finished first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.15 seconds, and Piumelli and Stroinski finished first and second in the 100 yard breaststroke with times of 1:05.11 and 1:07.14, respectively.

The Tornado will have a break as their next meet is on January 25 at Mars Hill University.
