GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College had the NCCAA Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for a fourth straight week as Patrick Jones earned his second honor of the season, the national organization announced Wednesday.
Jones, a sophomore from Bluff City, Tenn., went 2-0 in singles' play last week as the Tornado won both matches to complete a perfect 5-0 fall season. He started the week with a 6-3 and 6-1 win at Milligan (Tenn.) College after an 8-1 doubles' victory last Tuesday. On Friday Jones collected an 8-6 doubles' point before a 6-4 and 6-3 singles' victory at Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) University.
Overall Jones ended the fall season 5-0 in singles with a 60-18 games record. In doubles Jones has only been a part of eight losing games so far in 2010.
The Tornado was a 9-0 winner at Milligan and added a 5-1 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne.
King will take the 5-0 record into the spring season which starts on Feb. 9 when the Tornado travel to NCAA Division I Wofford (S.C.) College.
