MOBILE, Ala. – King College closed out the 2011 men's tennis season with a 5-3 win over Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College at the NCCAA National Championship to wrap up pool play Wednesday.
King's season comes to an end at 15-9 with a 1-2 pool-play record.
The Tornado finished third in the four-team pool with a 1-2 record. Roberts Wesleyan went 0-3. Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University won the pool thanks to a 5-1 decision over Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
King started with two doubles' wins. Pablo Vidal (Madrid, Spain), Seth Hale (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Eiki Magnusson (Reykjavick, Iceland) were the winners in singles for the Tornado. Magnusson, a senior, used his victory to clinch the contest for King by rallying for the 4-6, 6-1 and 6-1 decision.
