Tornado even conference record with win over Barton

BRISTOL, Tenn. – In their first home duel match in three weeks, the King University men's tennis team evened the Conference Carolinas record. The Tornado topped Barton College 6-3 to move to 3-3 in league play.

King (9-5, 3-3 CC) set the tone early by taking two of the three double matches. Rodrigo Avila and Pablo Vidal topped Max Leppert and Daniel Radu 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while Patrick Jones and Leo Brigato defeated Jorge Pradilla and Nick Genest of Barton (5-10, 3-6 CC) 8-5 and No. 2 doubles.

Avila carried that momentum over to singles play, defeating Rafael Ruiz Velasco 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 at No. 1 singles. William Boyce took a straight sets win, 6-1, 6-2 over Mihnea Tomos at No. 6 singles while Rafael Francisco clinched the win for King with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles. Patrick Jones made it a 6-3 Tornado win with his 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-8 win at No. 4 singles.

King will be in action again tomorrow when they host Limestone College at 2:00 p.m.
