BRISTOL, Tenn. – Playing to earn a spot in the Conference Carolinas tournament, the King University men's tennis team hosted Queens University. However, the Royals defeated the Tornado 6-3.
King's No. 1 doubles duo of Rodrigo Avila and Pablo Vidal started the duel match with an 8-2 win over Ole-Jacob Meum and Per-Erik Soler. However, the Tornado (10-8, 4-5 CC) dropped a pair of close matches at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, 8-5 and 8-4, respectively.
In singles play, Vidal took a hard fought 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory over Meum at No. 2 singles, and Patrick Jones defeated Bryce Boothby 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. However, Queens (8-4, 5-3 CC) took the other four singles matches to take the duel match.
King will be in action in their final home duel match of the season on Sunday when they host Belmont Abbey College. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
