Avila named first team All-Conference Carolinas

BRISTOL, Tenn. – With the end of the season comes post season awards, and the King University men's tennis team had one student-athlete honored by Conference Carolinas. Rodrigo Avila was named first team All-Conference Carolinas on Thursday when the league announced the award winners.

The junior from Cuernavaca, Mexico recorded 13 singles wins to tie for the team-lead. Avila primarily played at No. 1 singles, recording an 11-7 record while going 2-0 at No. 2 singles. In doubles play, he also registered a 13-7 record, going 10-6 with partner Pablo Vidal at No. 1 doubles. Playing with Leo Brigato at No. 1 doubles, the due turned in a 3-1 record. Avila ranked third in Conference Carolinas No. 1 singles with 11 wins while ranking fifth second with 13 doubles wins. This marks the first time Avila has been named first team All-Conference Carolinas.

The Tornado will be in action on Friday when they face Limestone College in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The duel match is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., in Sumter, S.C.
