TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Following their win on Tuesday, the King University men's tennis team tried to keep the momentum rolling when the faced Conference Carolinas foe North Greenville University on Wednesday. However, the home standing Crusaders jumped ahead with two doubles wins and escaped with three wins in singles to take the dual 5-4.
The Tornado No. 1 doubles team of Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato got King (3-5, 0-2 CC) on the board early with an emphatic 8-0 win over Jose Gomez and Rafael Gonzalez. Nevertheless, North Greenville (3-6, 2-0 CC) bounced back by winning the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches.
Pablo Vidal and Avila tried to bring the Tornado back as they both their singles matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, respectively. Vidal topped Gomez 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 while Avila defeated Juan Vargas 6-1, 6-0. Moritz Poswiat also took his singles match, defeating Sergio Araujo 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. However, King couldn't get one last win as the Crusaders took the dual 5-4.
King will be in action at home again this weekend when they host Belmont Abbey College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Tornado then host Bluefield State College on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
