BRISTOL, Tenn. – In their first match in 10 days, the King University men's tennis team showed no signs of rust from their layoff. The Tornado hosted Lees-McRae College in a Conference Carolinas dual match that the Tornado swept 9-0.
King (6-7, 3-2 CC) started by taking all three doubles matches as Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato defeated Taduez Poplawski and Joao Araujo 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Pablo Vidal and Luis Delgado took their No. 2 doubles match 8-6 before Moritz Poswiat and Seth Carelli were victorious at No. 3 doubles by the same 8-6 score.
Vidal continued the Tornado streak in singles play, winning his No. 1 match 6-3, 6-4. Avila, Poswiat and Boyce all won in straight sets over their Lees-McRae (3-7, 0-3 CC) opponents. Avila took a 6-3, 6-2 win at the second flight, Poswiat won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 and Boyce took a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles. At the third flight, Delgado defeated Carlos Pinel 6-2, 5-7, 6-4, and at No. 4 singles, Brigato took a 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 victory.
King will be in action again tomorrow when they travel to Pfeiffer University. First serve from Misenheimer, N.C., is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
