BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's tennis team continued their roll of late, dispatching of Southern Wesleyan University in their regular season finale. The Tornado took the 9-0 win over the Warriors for their ninth consecutive victory.
The tone was set in doubles play, where the Tornado (13-7) took all three matches. Rodrigo Avila and partner Leo Brigato took their No. 1 doubles match over Camilo Sandoval and Loic Delaby by the score of 8-4. The duo of Luis Delgado and Pablo Vidal took an 8-0 win over Alex Ballenger and Jacob Chesney of Southern Wesleyan (3-10) at No. 2 doubles. Moritz Poswiat and Seth Carelli capped doubles play with a third flight 8-2 victory over Matthew Plummer and Ethan Helman.
In singles play, Avila and Poswiat both took 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Brigato was impressive as well, winning his No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-1, and Delgado took a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Vidal won his No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-2 before William Boyce capped the Tornado victory with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.
King earned the second seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, where they will take on seventh seeded Erskine College on Friday at 12:00 p.m., in Sumter, S.C.
