BRISTOL, Tenn. – Both the men's and women's tennis teams earned the ITA All-Academic award for the third straight season when the organization announced their awards earlier this week. Along with both teams earning the distinction, 10 student-athletes between the two teams earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
To earn the ITA All-Academic Team award, the team has to have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.20. Both King teams have earned this distinction in each, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Individuals need to have at least a 3.50 GPA to earn the ITA Scholar-Athlete award. On the women's side, Naomi Reyes, Mariana Hosomi and Claudia Morris earned the honor. As for the men, Rodrigo Avila, William Boyce, Luis Delgado, David Huff, Moritz Poswiat, Rafael Francisco and Pablo Vidal earned the distinction.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
