Tornado compete at ITA Regional

SUMTER, S.C. – The King University men's tennis team returned to action over the weekend at the ITA Southeast Regional. Three Tornado went 1-1 at the event while doubles team of Lenny Keswani and Arturo Alfaro reached the round of 16.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the A draw, Lennard Neumann came back to defeat Anderson University's Tomas Depaggio 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. However, in the second round he fell to Antonio Sabugueiro of USC Aiken.
  • Keswani also played in the A draw and dropped both of his matches.
  • In the B draw, Alfaro and Alejandro Feliciano won each of their first round matches.
  • Alfaro defeated Matheo Espinoza of Francis Marion University 6-1, 6-2 and Feliciano topped Dominic Allan of Coker College 6-1, 6-0.
  • However, each dropped their second round matches.
  • In the doubles A draw, Alfaro and Keswani topped Lenoir-Rhyne University's Tomas Hons and Shane O'Dea 8-3.
  • However, their tournament came to an end when they fell to Armando Ferreira and Jack Middleton of the University of Mount Olive 8-3.

  • King continues their dual season on Tuesday when they travel to Mars Hill University. The dual is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
