Men’s Track and Field Selected Second in Preseason Poll
The King men's track & field team was selected to finish third as announced by the 2013 Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches' Poll.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The 2013 Men's Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Poll was released by Conference Carolinas on Tuesday, Jan. 8. King was picked to finish second overall among the eight teams on the men's side.

Following a second-place finish at last year's conference Track & Field Championships, King returns many of its key components for a strong return to the track. Sophomore sprinters Forrest Stuart (Knoxville, Tenn.) and All-Region selection Reggie Warren will lead the speedsters while freshman Joktan Moore (Appalachia, Va.) is expected to be a big contributor in jump and hurdle events. Warren and Stuart were both members of last year's conference champion 4x100m relay team (42.11).

Members of this year's national championship participant cross country team comprise a majority of the distance events runners, led by junior standout Spencer Frantom (Morristown, Tenn.) and steeplechase junior national qualifier Jordan Noe (Morristown, Tenn.). Last year, Noe finished the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 6:08.05, besting the U.S. Junior National Team qualifying mark by 17 seconds.

Mount Olive topped the charts as the preseason favorite heading into the 2013 season after received six of nine first-place votes.  The Trojans are seeking their third consecutive Conference Carolinas outdoor track & field championship. Following King in the poll was Limestone who finished with three fewer points (38) than King. Lees-McRae received one first-place vote and was voted fourth. North Greenville (5th) and Belmont Abbey (6th) followed with Barton and Queens (N.C.) tying for seventh to round out the order.

The Tornado have already participated in one event, the Appalachian Invite (Nov. 30-Dec. 1), this season. They will return to action on Jan. 18-19 for the Niswonger Invite held at East Tennessee State University (Johnson City, Tenn.).

The inaugural Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held as part of the JDL Fast Track Invitational in Winston Salem, N.C. on Feb. 16.
