CULLOHWEE, N.C. – The first day of competition at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic, hosted by Western Carolina University, saw the King University track and field team score three points. Eric Jones and Mark Baker both set personal bests during the first day.
Jones placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.66 meters placed him sixth and score three points. In the javelin throw, Baker set a personal record with a toss of 33.41 meters, placing him 11th.
Tom Lamkin led a group of five Tornado athletes to compete in the discus with a throw of 37.34 meters. Baker followed with a throw of 34.70 meters while Jeremy Stumper recorded a throw of 34.30 and Andrew Lai had a toss of 32.08 meters. Johnathan Dunn rounded out this group with a throw of 25.95 meters.
The Tornado are in ninth place going into the second day of competition. The event wraps up tomorrow in Cullohwee, N.C.
