WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The King University men's track and field team opened 2014 at the Wake Forest Invitational at the JDL FastTrack. The Tornado set three personal records at the season opening event.
Jordan Smith turned in a stellar performance in the 5,000 meter run as he took first with a new personal record time of 16:35.43. Reggie Warren also had a solid day as he posted a 60 meter dash time of 7.10 seconds and finished 10th in a deep 200 meter dash field with a time of 22.49 seconds.
In the weight throw, Jeremy Stamper set a personal best with a toss of 13.03 meters, placing him ninth. Ryan Hardin set a personal record by more than a full meter in the shot put with his toss of 10.90 meters to place 14th. Stamper turned in a fifth place performance in the shot put with a distance of 13.30 meters.
Brent Swiney started his season with a solid performance in the 3,000 meter run. The sophomore finished fifth with a time of 8:59.52.
King will be in action again on Saturday at the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University.
