Swiney sets 1500 meter school record for second straight week
RALEIGH, N.C. – King University men's track and field runner Brent Swiney traveled to Raleigh to run in the highly competitive 1500 meter race at the Raleigh Relays. The sophomore nearly set an NCAA provision time, finishing in 3:54.45.
The Bristol, Va., native won his heat with the blistering time, and placed third in a field of more than 100 runners, many of whom were NCAA Division I runners. The mark breaks his previous school record that was set last weekend by nearly one second. Swiney's time puts him within two seconds of the NCAA provision qualifying time of 3:53.00.
The Tornado will be in action again on April 4-5 at the Liberty College Invitational.
