King University Men's volleyball is defeated 3-1 (11-25, 19-25, 25-23, 20-25) at Pfeiffer. A slow start to the match for the Tornado and steady play from Pfeiffer were main reasons for the defeat. The first set was all Pfeiffer. The hit .577 as a team while the Tornado hit a -.065. The Falcons could do no wrong as King struggled to find every part of their game. The second set saw King put up more of a fight. They hung with the home team until late in the set. Zach Prexta and Mason Casner came off the bench in the second set to provide some energy and solid play. The Tornado came out hot in the 3rd set when junior setter Jeff Bosslet entered the match to solidy the offense. The two teams battled even until Pfeiffer jumped ahead with a kill from Eric Edelman to give Pfeiffer a 16-12 lead. The Tornado fought back to tie tha match at 19-19 when Justin Crane ripped a service ace. King would follow with kills by Mason Casner and two blocks from Adrian Lopez/Casner conbination to give the Tornado a late 24-22 lead. King would win the set 25-23 on a service error from Pfeiffer. The fourth set was a tight affair with neither team gaining more than a 2 point advantage. The score was tied 19-19 when the wheels fell off the bus for King. A Bosslet service error followed by some errors in serve receive led to the Falcons finishing off the match.
Matthew Harper led King with 10 kills, while Zach Prexta had 8. Mason Casner had 7 kills while hitting .500 on the night and added 2.5 blocks. Jeremy Funk and Adrian Lopez each had 7 digs on the night followed up with Ned Parker's 5 digs. Jeff Bosslet led with 19 assists on the night while Matthew DeLong had 15.
King will travel to the Lindenwood Classic Tournament in St. Charles, MO this Friday and Saturday.
