Thomas, Ringstaff named academic all-conference
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Now that most conference teams have completed their regular season schedule, Conference Carolinas has announced their academic all-conference teams. The King University softball team placed two student-athletes on the academic All-Conference Carolinas team when the honorees were announced Tuesday by the conference office.

King's NCAA-record four twin killings highlights sweep of Barton
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team wrapped up its regular season with a series sweep of Barton College on Sunday afternoon in league play, using a series of stellar defensive plays to tie an NCAA record with four double plays in the afternoon’s second contest.

Saints late runs lead to sweep of King
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team hosted Limestone College in a doubleheader that could have implications on Conference Carolinas seeding as the league wraps up regular season play in the coming weeks. Both games were close until the late innings when the Saints went ahead in the sixth inning of both games. Limestone took the first game 4-0 before the second game went to extra innings with Limestone taking a 2-1 victory for the sweep.

Tornado fall to Cobras at Stateline Classic
BRISTOL, Tenn. – With a pair of Conference Carolinas doubleheaders awaiting this weekend, the King University softball team jumped out of conference to take on crosstown rival Virginia Intermont College at the Stateline Classic hosted at Whitetop Park. The Cobras jumped ahead in the second inning, and that was all pitcher Micalah Sacre needed as Virginia Intermont took the contest 3-1.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the second consecutive week, King University softball pitcher Hannah Light has been honored by Conference Carolinas. The senior was named the league’s pitcher of the week after leading the conference-leading Tornado to a 4-2 week.

Delffs records six RBI in King's sweep of Mount Olive
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Behind a career day from right fielder Cheyenne Delffs, the King University softball team swept the University of Mount Olive7-2 and 6-0 on Sunday afternoon to retain its lead in the Conference Carolinas standings.

18th rank Bears sweep Tornado in extra innings
HICKORY, N.C. – The King University softball team put their 10-game winning streak on the line when they traveled to take on the 18th ranked team in the country, Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Bears snapped the Tornado streak with a 6-0 win in game one before the teams squared off in a pitcher’s duel in the nightcap. King held a 2-1 lead after the top of the eighth, but Lenoir-Rhyne plated two runs in the bottom of the extra frame to take the contest 3-2.

King's winning streak reaches 10 games with sweep of North Greenville
TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Equaling its longest winning streak since April 2013, the King University softball team swept Conference Carolinas foe North Greenville University, taking an extra innings affair in the first game before erasing a 3-0 deficit in the second to secure a 10-game winning streak and move into first place in the league standings.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following a 6-0 week for the King University softball team, pitcher Hannah Light was recognized by Conference Carolinas for her stellar performance. Light was selected as Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week registering 32 strikeouts and winning all six contests for the Tornado.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team continued its winning ways on Sunday afternoon, picking up a pair of 10-2 wins over Conference Carolinas rival Lees-McRae College that has the Tornado in a tie for second place in the league standings.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball doubleheader that was scheduled for Saturday at North Greenville has been postponed due to rain in the forecast. The twinbill has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m. in Tigerville, S.C.

Light leads Tornado to sweep at Belmont Abbey
BELMONT, N.C. – The King University softball team continued their hot streak of late, sweeping a doubleheader at Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey College. King fell behind early in game one, but they rebounded behind the stellar pitching performance from Hannah Light, taking the sweep with a 3-1 win in game one, and 3-1 victory in the nightcap.

NEWBERRY, S.C. – After sweeping a doubleheader against Bloomsburg University in Bristol on Friday afternoon, the King University softball team continued its winning ways by sweeping a twinbill at nonconference foe Newberry College on Monday, winning both games 1-0 behind a pair of stellar pitching performances by Hannah Light and an unearned run in each contest.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The softball doubleheader between King University and Newberry College that was scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been postponed. The double dip has been rescheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Monday at Newberry.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – In desperate need of wins to snap a five-game losing streak, the King University softball team picked up a pair of hard-fought victories in a doubleheader sweep of Bloomsburg University, taking decisions of 2-0 and 3-2 over the visitors from Pennsylvania.

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The King University softball team returned to Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon, taking on Pfeiffer University in a doubleheader. The teams played a pair of pitcher’s duels, but the Tornado came up on the short end of both. The Falcons took game on 2-1 with a sixth inning run before winning the nightcap 1-0.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Unable to overcome its own mistakes, the King University softball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader to Tusculum College by allowing six unearned Pioneers runs on the afternoon.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball doubleheader against Carson-Newman University scheduled for Wednesday afternoon has been postponed due to rain. A makeup date has not been announced at this time.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University softball pitcher Hannah Light turned in another solid performance last week, earning Conference Carolinas Picher of the Week honors. The senior started seven of King’s eight games a week ago, posting a 4-3 record in those contests.

Tornado pick up three conference weekly awards
BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University took home three Conference Carolinas weekly awards last week when the league announced their winners on Monday. Softball’s Chrissy Melcher and Mariana Hosomi and Rodrigo Avila of the Tornado tennis teams were named Conference Carolinas Players of the Week for the week ending Monday, March 3.

King splits second day of Captain D's Classic
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The King University softball team wrapped up play at the Captain D’s Classic with a split against the same two teams they played on Saturday. The Tornado used three first inning runs to defeat Kentucky Wesleyan College 4-2, before falling to #10 University of North Georgia 1-0 in the nightcap.

Tornado split day one of Captain D's Classic
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – After a splitting four games earlier in the week, the King University softball opened play at the Captain D’s Classic hosted by the University of North Georgia. The Tornado dropped the first game to the 10th-ranked host 5-1 on a walk-off grand slam before bouncing back to take the nightcap with 1-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan.

Hawks take doubleheader sweep from King
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Coming off a pair of wins Wednesday, the King University softball schedule didn’t get any easier when the Tornado hosted Shorter University on Thursday afternoon. The first game was tied before the Hawks scored eight unanswered to take game one 11-3, before sweeping the twinbill with an 11-0 win in the nightcap.

Lewis-Rand gives King sweep over Wingate
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team finally returned home on Wednesday afternoon, and avenged an early season loss with a sweep of Wingate University. King took the first game 5-0 before Octavia Lewis-Rand gave the Tornado a sweep with a double in the bottom of the seventh in game two to give King the 2-1 victory.

Melcher takes second straight TSWA weekly award
BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the second consecutive week, King University’s Chrissy Melcher has been named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Softball Player of the Week. The junior posted a .588 batting average last week, ripping four doubles and a home run.

USC Aiken takes pair from King
AIKEN, S.C. – A day after the King University softball team opened conference play with a split, the Tornado jumped back out of conference to take on USC Aiken. The Pacers got a stellar pitching performance en route to a 4-0 game one victory, and took the second game 7-6 on walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

King opens conference play with split at Erskine
DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University softball team opened Conference Carolinas play on Saturday at Erskine College and the Tornado offense continued to play at a high level. The Tornado plated runs in each of the first two innings of game one before breaking open the 9-2 win with five runs in the sixth inning. However, the Flying Fleet offense awoke in game two, taking the split with a 13-8 victory.

Tornado offense stymied by Sacre in loss to Cobras
BRISTOL, Va. – In a game that was added to the schedule yesterday, the King University women’s softball team took cross-town rival Virginia Intermont College on Thursday afternoon. The Tornado grabbed the early lead in the first inning, but the Cobras plated a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take the contest 2-1.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team has added a game to their schedule. The Tornado will face cross-town rival Virginia Intermont College on Thursday, February 27. First pitch from Virginia Intermont is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Chrissy Melcher has added another award this week as she was named Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week. The junior capped her stellar week in amazing fashion, only making five outs as she led King to a 5-0 record at the Pioneer Classic over the weekend.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Coming off a 5-0 weekend at the Tusculum College Pioneer Classic, King University swept the Tennessee Sports Writers’ Association Softball Players of the Week awards. Chrissy Melcher was named the TSWA Softball Player of the Week, and Hannah Light earned pitcher of the week honors.

King caps 5-0 weekend with win over UVa-Wise
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The King University softball was able to avenge a pair of losses earlier this week as they capped play at the Pioneer Classic with a 5-1 win over UVa-Wise. The Tornado rolled through the tournament with a 5-0 mark to improve their overall record back to .500.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Coming off its second top-25 win of the season among a pair of victories in the Pioneer Classic on Friday, the King University softball team continued its winning ways with wins over Mercyhurst University and East Stroudsburg University on Saturday to pull within a game of .500 on the young season.

Light, Thomas lead King to day-one sweep at Pioneer Classic
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – For the second time this season, the King University softball team took down a ranked opponent. The Pioneer Classic may have started two hours late, but the Tornado defeated #23 Kutztown University 5-2 in the opening game of the tournament on Friday night. The nightcap against East Stoudsburg University didn’t disappoint either as Fallon Thomas ripped a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning to give King the 6-2 win to sweep the first day of the tournament.

Start of Pioneer Classic pushed back
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team opens play at the Pioneer Classic, hosted by Tusculum College, this afternoon against #23 Kutztown University and East Stroudsburg University. However, the Tornado will have wait two more hours than originally scheduled to open play. After all the rain that fell last night and this morning, King will now face Kutztown at 6:00 p.m., and East Stroudsburg at 8:00 p.m., in Greeneville, Tenn.

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Fresh off a sweep at the hands of UVa-Wise in Bristol on Tuesday afternoon, the King University softball team fell to Lincoln Memorial University in a pair of nonconference games by scores of 3-2 and 8-0.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – It may have taken a week, but the King University softball team finally played their home opener on Wednesday. However, their opponent, UVa-Wise spoiled the occasion as the Cavaliers swept the doubleheader, 4-0 and 4-2 from the Tornado.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Due all the snow that fell last week, the King University softball doubleheader against UVa-Wise has been postponed again. The double-dip has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the King Softball Complex on the King University campus.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – With all the snow that has fallen on the east coast, the King University softball team has made some changes to their schedule. Both of King’s doubleheaders scheduled for this weekend have been postponed as well as Tuesday’s double-dip with Lincoln Memorial University.

Light named Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week
BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University pitcher Hannah Light started off her senior season on high note last weekend, and was selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week. Light tossed a pair of shutouts at the Cougar Classic, including a season-opening win over #25 Columbus State University.

King drops final two games of Cougar Classic
COLUMBUS, Ga. – The King University softball team wrapped up play at the Cougar Classic with a pair of tough games against Wingate University and Pfeiffer University. The Tornado had an early lead against Wingate, but the Bulldogs came back to take the contest 5-4 early Sunday morning. In the nightcap, Pfeiffer plated four runs in the fourth en route to the 5-2 victory.

Tornado split day two of Cougar Classic
COLUMBUS, Ga. – The King University softball team continued play at the Cougar Classic on Saturday and split a pair of games. The Tornado fell to Lincoln Memorial University 9-1, but bounced back to defeat Tusculum College 4-0 behind Hannah Light’s second shutout in as many starts this season.

Light, Melcher lead King to first win over ranked team
COLUMBUS, Ga. – An experienced King University softball team made history in the 2014 season opener at #25 Columbus State University on Friday afternoon. Hannah Light came within two outs of a no hitter and Chrissy Melcher ripped a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to give the Tornado the 2-0 win, their first win over a nationally ranked team since becoming NCAA Division II members in 2010.

Tornado eye third Conference Carolinas title
BRISTOL, Tenn. – In their second season as Conference Carolinas members, the King University took home their second conference title, winning the 2013 regular season championship. The Tornado have nearly everyone back from last year’s squad, and were selected to finish second in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

King 2014 softball camps announced
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University head softball coach Jenn Testa has announced the dates for the softball camps this summer. There will be four sessions, two youth skills camps, pitcher/catcher camp and an advanced skills camp. All the camps will take place during the month of June.

Tornado ink three players in early signing period
BRISTOL, Tenn. – With the early signing period complete, King University head softball coach Jenn Testa announced the signing of three players to join the Tornado for the 2014-15 season. Amanda Sports, Diamond Snow Callwood and Lauren Rowsey all inked National Letters of Intent to play their college softball at King.

King hosts pair of softball camps this fall
BRISTOL, Tenn. – It’s never too late or too early to be thinking about softball. This fall, King University will be hosting a pair of camps, first the Fall Camps at King University on October 20 and 27. The Tornado will then co-host the East Tennessee Fall Softball Showcase at Tusculum College on November 10.
