BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University head softball coach Jenn Testa has concluded her search for an assistant coach following the departure of Travis McCall who took the head coaching position at Coker College. Joining Testa in the third base dugout this season will be Jake Cockerham, who is no stranger to King athletics.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – As Conference Carolinas continues to hand out awards from the spring season, King University student-athletes keep getting honored. Both Cassie Ringstaff (softball) and Maegan Henry (women’s track and field) were named Conference Carolinas Scholar Athletes of the Year for their respective sports.

On Tuesday, Light was named to the Daktronics Southeast Region second team for the second consecutive season after leading the Tornado to a runner-up finish at the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – After wrapping up her senior season of play by earning first team all-conference accolades and helping the Tornado to a runner-up finish in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, King University softball player Cassie Ringstaff was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team this afternoon.
BURLINGTON, N.C. – After King University defeated Limestone College in an elimination game, they came right back to take on the University of Mount Olive for the second time in three games in the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament Championship game. However, Carly White pitched the Trojans to their second tournament title in as many years while Mount Olive offense erupted for 11 runs in their 11-3 victory over the Tornado.
BURLINGTON, N.C. – The top two teams in Conference Caroilnas squared off in an elimination game on Sunday morning the conference tournament, and both pitchers were up to the task, Limestone College’s Kelly Shearer, and Hannah Light for King University. The duo combined to allow just eight combined hits, and no runs through the first seven innings. In the eighth, Fallon Thomas broke through for the Tornado, crushing a three-run home run to left field. Light made that standup in the bottom of the inning, keeping King alive in the tournament.
BURLINGTON, N.C. – When the Conference Carolinas Tournament started on Friday all the teams were playing for a chance to play for a championship, and when second seed King University faced fourth seed University of Mount Olive, one team was going to be one step closer to that goal. The Trojans took advantage five King miscues to remain undefeated in the tournament with the 4-1 victory.
BURLINGTON, N.C. – In a Conference Carolinas Tournament winner’s bracket game that was supposed to take place a day prior, the second seeded King University softball team advanced to the semifinals with a 2-0 victory over sixth seed Pfeiffer University. Tornado pitcher tossed her second shutout in as many games in the tournament while Fallon Thomas and Octavia Lewis-Rand delivered the offense for King.

HICKORY, N.C. – The King University softball team put their 10-game winning streak on the line when they traveled to take on the 18th ranked team in the country, Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Bears snapped the Tornado streak with a 6-0 win in game one before the teams squared off in a pitcher’s duel in the nightcap. King held a 2-1 lead after the top of the eighth, but Lenoir-Rhyne plated two runs in the bottom of the extra frame to take the contest 3-2.
TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Equaling its longest winning streak since April 2013, the King University softball team swept Conference Carolinas foe North Greenville University, taking an extra innings affair in the first game before erasing a 3-0 deficit in the second to secure a 10-game winning streak and move into first place in the league standings.

NEWBERRY, S.C. – After sweeping a doubleheader against Bloomsburg University in Bristol on Friday afternoon, the King University softball team continued its winning ways by sweeping a twinbill at nonconference foe Newberry College on Monday, winning both games 1-0 behind a pair of stellar pitching performances by Hannah Light and an unearned run in each contest.
