BRISTOL, Tenn. – Senior softball pitcher Hannah Light continues to win awards after the completion of her career. On Tuesday, Light was named to the Daktronics Southeast Region second team for the second consecutive season after leading the Tornado to a runner-up finish at the Conference Carolinas Tournament.

At the Conference Carolinas Tournament, Light started all five games for the Tornado, completing four games. The Coeburn, Va., native also registered three shutouts, pitching King into the championship game against the University of Mount Olive. In the tournament, she had an earned run average1.31 while striking 28 in 32 innings of work.

Light was named Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season after leading the league in strikeouts and victories both seasons. This year, the senior has been nothing short of impressive, leading the Tornado to a second place finish in the Conference Carolinas regular season and Conference Carolinas Tournament runner-up finish. In the national rankings, Light was ranked in the top three (all divisions) in strikeouts the majority of the season, and ranked seventh in NCAA Division II with 273 punch outs at the end of her season.

The Coeburn, Va., native may have gotten off to a slow start, but she led King on a 10-game winning streak, earning wins in the circle each game. For the season she has an overall record of 28-18 while going 11-4 in league play. Light ranked second in the league with an earned run average of 1.83, and her 28 wins rank third in all of NCAA Division II. She has appeared in all but five of King's 55 games, starting 47 games for the Tornado. Light was named Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Week five times during the regular season.
