  • Casteel, Riddle selected NFCA All-Region

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the first time in program history, the King University softball program has had a player earn All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Both Hannah Riddle and Kaycee Casteel were selected second team All-Southeast Region by NFCA when the organization announced their awards on Wednesday.

    BURLINGTON, N.C. – The second day of the Conference Carolinas Tournament started with a tight contest between second seed Limestone College and fourth seed King University. The Tornado came back to even the score in the fifth inning, but the Saints answered with three to take the contest 4-1.

    BURLINGTON, N.C. – Facing elimination in the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament, fourth seeded King University came away with a win over seventh seed Barton College. The Tornado did their damage in the middle innings, taking the contest 7-3.

    BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament started with a barn burner between King University and Erskine College. The Tornado grabbed a 6-2 lead early, but the Flying Fleet came back with five runs in the sixth inning to take the contest 7-6.

    DUNCAN, S.C. – The King University softball team ran their winning streak to eight games with a Conference Carolinas sweep at Converse College on Thursday afternoon. The Tornado used six runs in the seventh inning to take game one 8-7 before Hayley Smothers, Raven Allender and Morgan Matthews combined for the second no hitter in program history, giving King a 12-0 game two win.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the second time this year, King University softball pitcher Emma Hughes has been recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). This week she was named ECAC Rookie of the Week after earning a pair of wins and helping the Tornado sweep 18th-ranked Limestone College.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – Hannah Riddle led the King University softball team to a big week, including a sweep of 18th-ranked Limestone College. For the week she posted a slugging percentage of 1.222 and belted a two-run home run in King’s opening game victory over Limestone, earning her Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors.

Behind the pitching of Emma Hughes, King took game one 3-1 before coming back to take game two 4-3 for their first sweep of a ranked team in program history.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – Due to heavy rainfall, the King University softball doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday at Lees-McRae College has been postponed. The game has been rescheduled for April 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team knew they were in for a pair of tough Conference Carolinas contests on Saturday when they hosted North Greenville University. The opening contest went to extra innings with the Crusaders taking the game 5-2 in eight innings. The Tornado offense exploded in game two, and held on late, taking the game 9-7 for the split.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – Due to impending weather, the Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader between King University and Southern Wesleyan University has been moved from Friday to Sunday. The twinbill is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. at the King Softball Field.

    Franklin Springs, Ga. – Following a split on Friday, the King University softball team rode the hot hand of Emma Hughes to a Conference Carolinas sweep at Emmanuel College on Saturday. Hughes tossed a pair of complete games as King took game one 3-1 before winning the nightcap 6-0.

    DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University softball team opened up Conference Carolinas play on Friday afternoon at Erskine College. The Tornado came back and took game one 5-2 behind four runs in the seventh inning before Erskine took game two 9-4 after scoring six runs in the opening frame.

    HICKORY, N.C. – The King University softball team faced off against number seven ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University on Tuesday afternoon. The Tornado scored two runs late in game one but fell 5-4 to the Bears and took game two by scoring late runs again to win 4-3.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team pushed their winning streak to seven games, taking the opening contest over Mars Hill University 10-2. However, the Lions came back to take game two 3-1 in eight innings.
  • Tornado sweep Concord, Testa earns 200th career win

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team continued their hot streak of late, winning their sixth straight contest and earning head coach Jenn Testa her 200th career win on Wednesday. The Tornado swept a doubleheader from Concord 9-5 in game one and 3-1 in game two.
