BRISTOL, Tenn. - The King College women's basketball team will be a part of the 2011 NCAA Division II Independent Schools Invitational Friday through Sunday at the University of the District of Columbia.
King, the event's No. 4 seed, will play host and top-seed District of Columbia at 4 p.m. Friday. Earlier in the day Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University, the No. 5 seed, and No. 6 seed Washington Adventist will meet in a noon contest. At 2 p.m. Central State (Ohio) University, the No. 2 seed, and Urbana (Ohio) University, the No. 3 seed, meet.
The Lady Tornado will take a 9-15 record into the event which includes a win against Washington Adventist and two setbacks from the District of Columbia.
The District of Columbia enters the weekend with a 17-8 record and an 11-1 mark at home. District of Columbia has a 6-0 mark against teams in the invitational, two against both King and Central State along with wins over Washington Adventist and Urbana.
Central State, at 9-14, was swept by Urbana, but beat Washington Adventist earlier in the season. Urbana owns a 10-14 mark. Palm Beach Atlantic comes to the invitational with a 5-20 record with no games this season against any of other five teams. Washington Adventist owns an 0-21 mark.
