Lady Tornado Downed by Lions in Final Non-Conference Game

MARS HILL, N.C. – Alley Sprouse and Mikki Oliver each scored ten points but fell short in a 73-41 loss to the Mars Hill Lions on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Tornado fall to 0-9 overall after their last non-conference game of the season.
 

Freshman center Alley Sprouse (Newport, Tenn.) fell one rebound short of her first career double-double, the second time she has done so this season, in her return to the lineup after missing her last two games. She finished the game with 10 points and nine rebounds going perfect from the field (3-for-3) and the charity stripe (4-for-4).

Mikki Oliver (Hampton, Tenn.) matched Sprouse with 10 points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field, including a three-point make on her only attempt. The junior guard did most of her scoring from the free throw line, going 5-for-7 on the evening.

King (0-9) struggled shooting as a team knocking down only 21.4 percent of all shots and 6-of-24 from behind the arc (.250).

The Lions (6-4) jumped out to a 38-21 halftime lead though shot only 1-for-11 from behind the arc. They paced themselves shooting nearly 43 percent from the floor in the first half cooled off to a respectable 36.4 percent in the second.              

Mars Hill forward Danielle Tucker led the Lions with 21 points and seven rebounds. She was one of three double-digit scorers for the Lions.

The Lady Tornado have finished their non-conference slate and continue the hunt for their first win of the season on Jan. 3 against the North Greenville Crusaders (Tigersville, S.C.).
