BRISTOL, Tenn. – Now that Conference Carolinas regular season play has concluded, the Conference Carolinas Basketball Tournament powered by OrthoCarolina matchups have been set. Both the King men's and women's basketball teams will both host quarterfinal contests on Saturday evening starting at 5:30 p.m.
The fourth seeded Tornado women will host rival Lees-McRae College who earned the fifth seed in the tournament. King closed the regular season with an overall record of 16-10 while the Bobcats had an overall record of 12-15. The teams split two regular season meetings, each winning on their home floor. King took a 63-55 win at home on December 7 while Lees-McRae topped the Tornado 69-64 in Banner Elk on January 27. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., in the Student Center Complex.
King earned the third seed on the men's side, and will host sixth seed North Greenville University. King posted a 14-12 overall record while the Crusaders went 14-13 in the regular season. This will be the third meeting between the teams in the last three weeks, and second this week. King defeated North Greenville 86-85 at home on February 10 before escaping Tigerville, S.C., with a narrow 77-75 victory in the regular season finale on Tuesday night. The contest will tip off following the women's game at approximately 7:30 p.m., in the Student Center Complex.
The "Final Four" of the Conference Carolinas Tournament powered by OrthoCarolina will take place at Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord, N.C., on Wednesday and Thursday.
