The King Lady Tornado earned the first tournament win in program history on Monday at the Converse Invite, played at the Carolina CountrynClub in Spartanburg, SC. The Tornado battled tough conditions in addition to the opposing teams, as temperatures hovered around 40 degrees with winds of 25 mph, creating a cold, wet golf course.
Sophomore Cortnee Young led the team to vistory with a score of 83, which also gave her an individual first place finish. Senior Esther Gandarias and Sophomore Anna Walker finished in the top five at the tournament with scores of 86 and 87, respectivley.
Elizabeth Swallow finished in the top 15 with a score of 90. Unfortunately, junior Kerby Jones had to withdraw due to an injury. Tornado finished the tournament with a total score of 346, seven shots ahead of second place Converse College.
King returns to action March 10-12 at the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational, hosted by Pfeiffer University.
